| Not until the sixties
did record buying become just for the teenager. Before
this records were bought by the whole family. Grand parents
and parents were also avid record buyers. The top twenty
of the fifties some times had a strange mixture of artists.
From stars like Mario Lanza and David Whitfield to Johnny
Ray and Tommy Steele. Every possible taste was catered
for, big band jazz to orchestral, show songs to comic
songs, everything had a chance to be Number 1. |
