Greasy Spoon Cafe, Fifties Nostalgia

Just recently the Royal Family has come in for some criticism, but during the fifties it was a different story. The whole country was pulling together to rebuild the war ravaged areas. As every part of Great Britain was fighting their own war, a war against shortages of materials and manpower. Many of our young men were still fighting abroad, it was left to the ones that were left to carry on regardless. Every member of the Royal Family was touring the country doing their bit by lifting the British spirit, none more so than the King. This is a few extracts from his diary for 1950-1951 before he became very ill.
