May 1951, The King's illness was getting worse and was
beginning to show on his face. By the end of May the King all but stopped
his royal duties. Princess Elizabeth took a much greater role taking on many
of the Kings duties.
The King returns to London.
May 21st 1951. The King returns to London at the end of a short holiday at Balmoral.
The royal family visit the Chelsea Flower Show.
May 22nd. The royal family visit the Chelsea Flower Show.
The King returns to London with the Queen.
July 9th 1951. For most of the summer the King was convalescing at the Royal Lodge Windsor. He returns to London with the Queen.
The King underwent surgery for lung cancer, he never fully
recovered, sadly the King died on the February 6th 1952.
