I was eleven.

Apart from the worry of the eleven plus exam, British troops were still fighting in Cyprus and Egypt. We were watching all our older brothers being conscripted into the forces. War seemed to be all around. The threat of nuclear war was on everybody's minds. Our parents thought 'Here we go again'
