On the Buses

Once upon a time, long long ago. There was a country that had a wonderful public transport system. The big buses would always run on time and a cheery conductor would help young and old alike. Even if the bus was full and you could not get on, the cheery conductor would, with a wave, tell you "There's another one behind". Naw that's a fairy tale................I don't believe it!!!

The 108 Blackwall Tunnel Bus

Some buses were specially built. Like the 108 above. This bus was designed to go through the Blackwall tunnel in south-east London. The body was made to slope inwards and had a curved roof. It also had special steel re-enforced tyres to protect them from rubbing against the kerbs in the tunnel. The shape of the bus stands out against the normal bus parked behind.

Fares Please

These are the tickets that paid for for you journey. The round hole punched in them indicated the 'Fare Stage' you boarded. The Big number in the middle was the price.
