Even out side of the Greater London area
there was a good bus service. Not as frequent but always
on time. They also seemed to run when they were needed.
They would arrive at the railway station 5 mins. before
the train was due and leave 5 mins. after the train had
left. Today we have a similar service, only the other way
round. Bus drivers would know their regular customers and
pick up and drop off between stops if someone had heavy
shopping or a push chair.
