In the fifties, when the summers were hot and it never rained, coastal towns had special buses for the holiday makers. They were normal buses made into open top so that the passengers could breathe in the wonderful sea air. As it never rained these buses were very popular.

Guy Arab

East Kent Road Car, Weymann 56 seater Guy Arab II 6LW. Retired in 1969. Holiday makers enjoy the fresh air on the coastal service to Palm Bay.

AEC Regent V

A 1959 East Kent Road Car, 72 seat AEC Regent V converted to open top for the Thanet depot. Because it never rained in the summer they needed extra capacity.

Bristol

Dennis Lancet

An East Kent Road Car, Dennis Lancet in 1954. These were used by the bus company to run tours for the holiday makers. Many times a 'Mystery Tour' would end up at the holiday makers home town.
