By 1954 the new European industrial revolution
had reached England. At the British Industrial Fair there
were 125,000 international buyers. Britain was leading the
world in exports. In 1948 we exported £55.4 million
worth of automobiles, by 1954 the figure rose to £96.3
million. Britain was boasting that they had the biggest
and the best. Over 200,000 engines were Rolls Royce aircraft
engines were being built under license all over the world,
as well as six factories in England. The Austin motor works
were working flat out, not only for the home market but
also for export. |
