For the fashion conscious woman in the fifties life was getting better. Slowly products were making their way onto the shelves of the local shops. Bath night for many was a stand up wash at the sink, but at least there were soaps and shampoos now. For the men though the only smell they had was 'Life Buoy' soap. The reason it was called that name was that no matter where you were in England, ships could smell you at sea.
