| Having washed, shampooed, permed and set it was now time to add the the finishing touches. This involved pushing, pulling, painting and plastering. All of this was done in the name of beauty. |

The amourous male would always need to carry his sturdy scout Jack Knife and a sixpenny bit. As bits of whale bone came loose or hooks and eyes became entangled the knife was invaluable. The sixpenny bit was a stop gap when the fastener on the suspender broke and could double for the button. It was always prudent to be prepared. |
